Port Klang, Malaysia – April 25, 2024 – Daiso Malaysia Group Sdn Bhd hosted a significant site officiating ceremony today to mark the commencement of its new Global Distribution Centre (GDC) construction project in Pulau Indah, Port Klang. The event was graced by Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Transport.
The site officiating ceremony, held from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, symbolizes the beginning of construction for the Daiso’s New Global Distribution Centre, a pivotal development in the company’s expansion strategy and commitment to enhance its supply chain infrastructure. Daiso is investing nearly RM1billion into the development of this new project.
Mr. Seiji Yano, President and CEO of Daiso Industries Co., Ltd., mentioned that the new Global Distribution Centre (GDC) is expected to commence operation in January 2027, and targets to serve 22 countries and regions worldwide.
“We are excited to officiate the construction site of our new Global Distribution Centre (GDC) here in Port Klang,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Khairul Adib bin Abd Rahman, Chairman of Daiso Malaysia Group Sdn Bhd. “This facility will play a crucial role in supporting our growing operations and meeting the needs of our customers worldwide. And with Port Klang’s plan to double its container handling capacity in the future, together with the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) to be implemented in our new GDC, we expect to see optimized logistical processes and reduction of lead time.”
The site officiating ceremony signifies the start of an important phase for Daiso as it works towards completing the GDC and advancing its business objectives.
